Live, Concert, and Tour

“I saw Winner’s live. The music in their live has persuasiveness. I feel the music of bareness, sort of aesthetic not of dishing up but of fading away here and there. I think they believe in their music, which is the part I like.”

Kiyori Matsumoto, Chief Editor of Kpopstarz and Strobo, September 11, 2015

  • In 2018,  WINNER has gained the reputation as the prince of Uni Festival after Psy. In Korea, university festival programs often include live concerts of renowned musicians who are particularly popular among the uni students. Only a few male idols are invited because their songs are usually consumed by female fans and not by the general public including ordinary male and female university students. Only in 2018, WINNER had their mini-concert in 17 universities where they were welcomed by crowd chants.

2017

This year, Winner did not go on a  concert tour but instead a fan meeting tour in Japan, while attending various festivals in Korea and one in Thailand.

Nobody cover ver.

Winner seems particularly good at covering female songs. This time, Winner rearranged and covered Wonder Girls’ Nobody in a unique and dramatic way.

Really Really

Love Me Love Me with original choreography by Lee Seunghoon

This is not a fan meeting but a university festival. Great fan chant by non-fans(?)!

Winner is one of the most likely male kpop groups who would be invited to fashion shows thanks to its classy and fashionable image (and great live performance skills). In TGC, the MR stopped a minute after Winner started to sing. it’s a rare chance to see how professionally Winner got over the accident

  • Yonsei University AKARAKA festival

Winner is one of a very few boy groups who can be invited to university festivals for its music widely loved by the general public including young male listeners, who mostly are uninterested in male idol songs.

The cover of 2NE1’s Missing You was something. MR removed version is also famous. It is amazing that the cover was just casually made during their shooting of WinnerTV, which is also interesting to watch and see how they have improved since then. https://youtu.be/14dJyiKL7lI

Winner was invited to one of the biggest Chinese Annual shows and had the 2nd highest viewership rate on its website! and on the following day, Winner was trending on Weibo for a whole day!! Chinese critics also praised Winner’s live performance skills in comparison with many other kpop groups who lipsynced too often.

“Really Really” Practice Video

YG had never released Winner’s dance practice video on Youtube until 2017. And this is the first one.

“Don’t flirt” live
The only non-lead song among idol songs that ranked on Top100 Annual Chart of the year 2014. Thus there’s no M/V but just a few stage performances are available , which however were enough to make the song back on the Top50 digital chart 7 weeks after the release.

: The last one is quite special because in celebration of the Police Day, Winner performed in front of police officers. And look at how they enjoy the song!! 😀

“Immature” live
– Another non-title song, which Winner sang live on Korean TV
– Gave us ICs a phenomenal fun when Hoony got 4,000 dollars’ brand pants ripped while going wild. 😀

“Love is a lie” live
https://youtu.be/q7REO0PIrMc
A rare EDM before Really Really. Written by Mino.  A good summer song too.

1theK

In the debut year, Winner did not appear on the Big 3 Channels (KBS, MBC, SBS) except a few music shows. It was Melon’s 1theK and MCountdown that produced quite a number of videos for fans. Particularly I love 1theK videos because they are always on point and with subs!! MCountDown does not provide subs and is quite strict about the copyright infringement so most subbed videos were deleted by the owner’s request.
